Clark Security Company History

CLARK Security Products began in 1950 as the Key Department of the Wilson F. Clark Wholesale Hardware Co. in San Diego. This small department occupied a space approximately 10’ x 20’, with an inventory of a short line of key blanks, padlocks, and a few Ilco key machines. At that time, our market was local and a few orders a day was cause for celebration. This little key department continued to function as part of WFC Co. until 1953, when a new corporation was formed under the name of Clark Security Products, Inc.

In the years that followed, Richard Clark developed CLARK Security Products into a reliable locksmith supplier, stocking a wide variety of commercial and residential security products. In 1983, Richard passed the torch to a group of managers who combined CLARK’s tradition of care and concern for the locksmithing trade with a series of innovative programs designed to help lockshop owners grow their business.

Currently, CLARK Security Products has 14 locations across the country, ensuring prompt delivery nationwide. CLARK stocks over 40,000 items representing 350 manufacturers. We have a national sales force, a variety of business development tools, and computer assistance to help organize your shop, check stock, and place orders.

We feel fortunate to be part of this growth story, but no account of our history would be complete without including the most important contributor: you.
